Hi all You will have seen from my signature that I am supporting one of my twin sons, Ian, who is taking part in this year's BUPA GREAT NORTH RUN on 15 September 2013. You could have knocked me for six with a spongeball when he told me what he had decided to! Ian is 20 years old and currently starting his second year at university in Leeds studying Business Economics. He has never done anything like this before and this half marathon will be his first 'proper' run; I am so proud of his decision to run for NRAS. Training is going well, although not easy in this heat ... can't complain about the weather though or before we know it we'll have rain! So come September he should be well on target to complete his run in good time. Already Ian is quite close to his fundraising target but as a certain store maintains "every little helps"! So guys, if you feel able to dig into those deep pockets, dusty wallets, down the back of settees etc your kind and generous donations are most welcome. Ian's fundraising page can be found at the link below. NRAS benefits greatly from all those who are able to support their work and indeed without that very necessary fundraising they would find it very difficult to continue to provide the excellent service that they give. So thank you Ian for taking on board this challenge, to NRAS for their continued support of those of us with RA and to everyone out their who makes it all possible through fundraising. Lyn xx

Hi Guys Beautiful autumn morning here on the Fylde Coast and Ian has just set off in his NRAS vest on a training run. Go Ian go Only three weeks until the big day in Newcastle so training has been stepped up before Ian's return to university in Leeds. I'm sure running along the shoreline with views across Morecambe Bay and overlooking the Pennines and the Lake District hills must be motivation in itself! Thank you Lorna and Ken for your very generous donation, much appreciated. Ian has now passed his £400 target! £400.40 Please help by supporting Ian and NRAS by making a small donation. All funds raised go to help those, including you and I, with Rheumatoid by providing support services and information. Thank you all very much Lyn x

TODAY'S THE DAY! Damp, windy and a bit miserable looking but nothing to dampen the spirits of those participating in what will be another great day. 55,000 runners, how on earth will I spot Ian?! Every little helps to support a great patient focused charity. Good luck to all the runners ... stay safe www.justgiving.com/ianlukewilsonLyn x

UPDATE A huge thank you to everyone who has offered their support of Ian over the last few months both in their generous donations and kind words. Ian's fundraising has now reached £500.00 His fundraising page will remain open for some time yet so if anyone would like to contribute in support of NRAS donations are very much appreciated. Perhaps NRAS has been particularly helpful to you during a difficult period, maybe their literature has proved very informative when you were newly diagnosed, or perhaps a call to the Helpline answered those confusing questions. But maybe this very Forum has offered a lifeline when there was nowhere else to turn. All these services cost money and without the support of volunteers NRAS could not provide the fab service it offers. NRAS needs each and everyone of us to spread the word and support where we are able. Thank you all again for your thoughtfulness. Lyn x
